Wayne A. Willard, 98, of Camp Hill, passed away on Saturday March 24, 2018 at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Born on September 29, 1919 in Hamler, OH, he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth (Reddin) Willard.
Wayne was a 1938 graduate of Hamler High School. From 1940 -1945 her served in the US Army during WWII. During his service he was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, 6 service stripes, and a Silver and Bronze Star. Wayne was retired after 30 years of employment with the US Postal Service in Harrisburg. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill. He served his church as a Lecter, Special Minister, and Money Counter. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1001 and the VFW, both of Harrisburg. Wayne and his wife loved to square dance and they were members of the Flirts and Skirts Square Dance Club in Mechanicsburg. He was also a member of the US Postal Service Retiree's Breakfast Club. Wayne Golfed for 50 years and in that time, he hit 3 good shots, all 3 were holes-in-one.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan L. Willard, of Dauphin, PA; two grandchildren, Amy L. Zoellner and her husband, Tyler, of Dauphin, PA, and Matthew L. Keith and his wife Kim, of Washington, PA; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Trenton, and Ashlyn Zoellner, and Samara and Kira Keith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Weitzel) Willard, and two sisters, Helen Lint, and Edna Watkins.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday April 2, 2018 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, 17011, with Rev. Philip G. Burger as Celebrant. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the mass. Burial will be held with Military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
