Thomas A. Butz, 62, of Dillsburg, PA, passed away on Thursday August 13, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA.
Born on December 24, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Gross) Butz.
Tom was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia. He was a Certified PA Inspection & Emission Instructor for Monroe County Vocational Technical School and currently was teaching at Dauphin County Technical School and Pennsylvania Automotive Association. He was a former employee of AAA Lehigh Valley, and AAA Central Penn. He was an ASE Master Technician & Advanced Engine Performance Specialist. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. Tom had a love for English Setters and was active in the Above and Beyond and Another Chance for English Setters organizations. He was also the Advancement Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop # 38, Dillsburg, PA.
Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth (Graner) Butz, of Dillsburg, PA, three sons, John A. Butz, of Boiling Springs, PA, James G. Butz and his wife Megan, of Greenville, TX, Thomas G. Butz, of Dillsburg, PA, three grandchildren, Andrew Jacob Butz, Cadence Joy Butz, and Theodore James Butz.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 22, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA, with the Rev. Rochelle E. Lewis officiating. Burial was held in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the Haiti Mission Program of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
