Obituary

Teresa M. Smith, 70, of Camp Hill, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Born on March 24, 1955, in Wilkinsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Donhoffer) Pugliano and she was the widow of Richard C. Smith.

Teresa was a graduate of Churchill High School. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Penn State University, and then her master's degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. She then completed her PHD with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a social worker Teresa dedicated her career to child welfare. She was one of the founders of the Children's Resource Center with UPMC in Harrisburg, PA. Teresa retired earlier this year from the National Children's Alliance. She was a board member with the Health and Human Services Alumni Society at Penn State. She loved the English Springer Spaniel dog breed and was committed to caring for her own dogs and was active with Springer Spaniel rescues.

Teresa is survived by two sons, Richard J. Smith and his wife Mary, of Enola, PA, and Scott F. Smith and his wife Carolyn, of Hummelstown, PA, a daughter, Julie M. Smith, of Camp Hill, PA, and eight grandchildren, Scarlett, Annie, Mickelson, Matilda, Zaniyah, Laura, Juniper, and Darrell.

In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her brother Larry Donhoffner and other siblings.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Celebrant. A viewing for Teresa will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, December 29th in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA, and an additional viewing will be held on Tuesday in the church from 12:30pm until the start of the Mass. A reception will be held in the church, immediately following the mass. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
