Obituary

Susan Goodridge, 76, of Mechanicsburg, PA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Artis Senior Living of West Shore in Lemoyne, PA. Born on March 30, 1948, in Chicago, IL, she was a beloved daughter of the late Dr. Wallace and Helen (Townsend) Hobbie. A graduate of Carlisle High School, Susan maintained and valued many lifelong friendships. Susan was a remarkable woman known for her independence mixed with a strong capacity for love. She valued her freedom, displayed through this independence as well as her travels. Some of her fondest memories are traveling with her mother and visits to England, where she enjoyed reconnecting with her sister and family. As age and Alzheimerrsquos disease robbed her of many of her gifts, she never lost her ability to recognize the kindness that always seemed to surround her. By simply living her life, she showed others that we all have the ability to be self-sufficient, outspoken, caring and unique. And she always enjoyed spending time with like-minded people. Her legacy lives on through her loving family, including her brother, William Hobbie and his wife Jane of Duncannon, PA her sister, Camille Townsend of Seattle, WA four nephews, David Hobbie and his wife Jill of Feasterville-Trevose, PA Scott Hobbie and his wife Charlene of Duncannon, PA Richard Hobbie and his wife Brooke of Alexandria, VA and Austin Carter of Perth, Australia. She also leaves behind two nieces, Katherine Hollis and her husband Ben Gardner of Seattle, WA, and Amanda Hollis of Colfax, NC, three great-nephewsmdashBryce Hobbie, Beckett Hobbie, and McCord Gardnermdashand four great-niecesmdashPaige Hobbie, Alice Hobbie, Claire Hobbie, and Sierra Hobbie. Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Jonathan Carter, of St. Albans, England, as well as additional extended family and many others she called friends. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Patricia Carter. A celebration of Susanrsquos life will be held at a later date. Myers-Baker Funeral Cremation Services in Camp Hill, PA, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
