Sheldon Owen Jones, age 74, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Dementia on July 18, 2026, at Artis Senior Living of West Shore in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania.

Sheldon was born on February 16, 1952, in Independence, Missouri, the youngest of three children born to Wynne Davies Jones and Bette Irene Jones. Sheldon spent his formative years in Independence, plotting battle formations for green army men and playing baseball with his coveted Wilson A360 baseball glove. In 1971, Sheldon graduated from Truman High School, where he was active in football, journalism, student council, and varsity band. He loved his electric and acoustic guitars and was part of the Court Jesters, a local band. Sheldon was also an active Boy Scout, earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Sheldon attended the University of Central Missouri, where he was active in rugby, and served as the sports editor for the school newspaper. He graduated in 1975, summa cum laude, with a degree in Communications. Central Missouri is also where Sheldon met Shelley, whom he married in 1977. Together, they shared 48 loving years of marriage. After graduation, Sheldon worked in corporate communications with various oil companies before transitioning into the pharmaceutical industry, which allowed him to move throughout the United States while growing his family. In 2012, Sheldon completed his corporate career, retiring as Director of Corporate Communications for Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Basel, Switzerland.

Sheldon remained actively involved in the Boy Scouts throughout his adult life, serving as president of the Patriots' Path Council, as well as serving on the board for the Association of Mental Health.

His personal interests and passions included an enthusiasm for sports cars, golfing, writing, photography, competitive running, performing music, spending time with his family, and watching his sons play sports and participate in activities. He was never one to shy away from waiting in the parking lot after games to express his thoughts on particular calls made by the referees. In his later years, his ninth symphony was the creation and expansion of Joy to the Burg, a Christmas concert-driven charity responsible for supporting people experiencing homelessness in the Harrisburg area. Any free time Sheldon found would be spent enjoying his favorite hobby: throwing the ball for his beloved dog, Gracie.

Sheldon is fondly remembered as a proud and mentoring father, a warm and loving husband, an active member of his church, and an inspirational philanthropist.

Sheldon is preceded in death by his sister Sharon Winter. Sheldon is proudly survived by his wife, Shelley Jones; his three sons, Austin (Aika), Logan (Joelle), and Tanner (Angeline) Jones; his six grandchildren, Landon, Lana, Eden, Reese, Dowlin, and Scarlett Jones, his brother, Pete Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.
