Rose Mary Phelleps, 89, of Camp Hill, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Neighborhood Health Hospice, West Chester.
Born on August 21, 1927 in Oil City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Leroy and Edna Pearl (Robbins) Zimmerman, MD; and she was the widow of Ralph James Phelleps, Sr.
Rose Mary was a graduate of Bucknell University. She received her Bachelor's degree in English and Religion. She was a retired Librarian's Assistant from the School library at Schaeffer Elementary School, Camp Hill. Rose Mary was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill.
Rose Mary was a member of the Camp Hill Civic Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, and The Harrisburg Torch Club. Also, she was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Chancel Choir.
Rose Mary was an avid and worldwide traveler alongside her husband. She took great pride in sharing her vast knowledge of American Indian history by giving speeches to diverse groups. She was a voracious reader especially of mysteries. Rose Mary loved animals, in particular her beloved cats, Luke and Leia most recently.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph James Phelleps, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Ann Piacquadio-Sweeney and her husband Eugene Francis Sweeney Jr., of Downingtown; two grandchildren, Eugene Francis Sweeney, III, and Carolyn Er Ya Sweeney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday July 31, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, with Pastor John H. Brock officiating. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service in Camp Hill Cemetery. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
