Robert P. Swartzlander, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at his home. Born on March 30, 1930 in Ford City, PA, he was the son of the late Paul H. and Bertha (Rupp) Swartzlander. Robert was a 1947 graduate of Ford City High School and was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Robert was a retired Contract Specialist at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis A.(Daley) Swartzlander, of Carlisle, two daughters: Lee M. McDonnell, of Myersville, MD, and Laura K., of Camp Hill. Two sons: Stephen R., of Rhode Island, and Gregory P. and his wife Christine, of Mechanicsburg. Five grandchildren: Tia, Danielle, Stephanie, Kira, and Conor. Four great grandchildren and a brother, Thomas E., of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his brother, James A. All funeral services are private and burial will be handled at the convenience of the family.
