Robert K. Staz, 79, of Camp Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Born April 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, he was the son of John and Blanche (Kohler) Staz and attended Camp Hill High School where he graduated as Salutatorian. He went to Dartmouth College on a Navy academic scholarship and graduated with the Class of 1957. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Bob was the co-owner of Brookwood Farms Dairy in Harrisburg with his brother John M. Staz, Jr. and co-owner of Brookwood Spring Water. He was a past president of Session at the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church and held a number of other church leadership positions. He was a long time member of the West Shore Country Club a past president of the Harrisburg Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Trindle Parkinson's support group, the Tri-County Blind Association and several other business and professional organizations. Having grown up across the street from the West Shore Country Club, Bob loved to play golf with his sons at the club and enjoyed playing tennis with his friends.
He is survived by his wife Carol Forrester Staz, his three sons Robert, Jr., Thomas and Douglas and Douglas's wife Alicia and grandson Joshua. He is also survived by his former wife, friend and the mother of his three sons, Marjorie Mentzer Staz, and by Marjorie's sister Marilyn Straus and her husband Mike. His brother John M. Staz, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Staz and their four children, John III, David, Peter and Diane and their families, also survive him.
Bob's final resting place will be in the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church cemetery in Plain Grove, Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson's research of Xuemel Huang M.D. PhD. at the Department of Neurology, Milton S. Hershey Pennsylvania State University Medical Center, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033 or to the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 North 23rd Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
