Robert E. Hoffman, 86, of Camp Hill, passed away on Monday March 9, 2015 at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 31, 1928 in Altoona, he was the son of Nason and Mary (Treese) Hoffman.
He was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. He served as a Radioman aboard the USS Peterson during the Korean War. He retired from the FAA after 32 years as an Air Traffic Controller. Bob was a member of the West Shore Baptist Church in Camp Hill for more than 47 years. Bob was very creative and artistic. He was skilled at lettering and making signs and was well known for his humorous greeting cards. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob always had a story or two to share, had a great sense of humor and knew how to entertain a crowd.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Mildred L. (Briney) Hoffman, of Messiah Lifeways; two daughters, Tammy Barrick and her husband Roger, of Camp Hill, and Beth Hoffman León and her husband Chip, of Dumfries, VA; a son, Rob Hoffman and his wife Lori, of Harrisburg; a twin brother, Richard C. Hoffman, of Altoona; four grandchildren, Christopher, Allie and Noah Hoffman, James León and two step grandchildren, Justin and Ryan Barrick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Ray Hoffman, and a sister, Kate Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 14, 2015 at the West Shore Baptist Church, 2025 Market St., Camp Hill, with Pastor Gary R. Bruland officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday March 13th at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, and also in the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
