Richard C. "Rick" "Smitty" Smith, 69, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.

Born on August 4, 1954, in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Anderson Frank and Betty Theresa (Baranyi) Smith.

Rick was a 1972 graduate of West Mifflin-North High School. He went on to complete his bachelor's degree in law enforcement and Corrections from Penn State University. He received his master's degree in health administration from the University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL. Over the years he had worked in the field of corrections and worked his way up to Captain at Western Penitentiary in Pittsburgh in the PA Department of Corrections. He was promoted to Chief of Security for the PA Department of Corrections and appointed Deputy Superintendent of Operations at the State Correctional Institution of Camp Hill. After leaving the Department of Corrections, he worked for PrimeCare Medical for 18 years as a Vice President of Operations. He retired as Warden of the Centre County Correctional Facility in State College. Rick was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Camp Hill and was a 1st degree Knight with the Camp Hill Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and loved watching college athletics. He was huge fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers bleeding the Blue and White and Black and Gold, respectively. He was a devoted and caring dog lover. As each of his children grew up and developed interest in youth sports he proudly coached all of them.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Teresa M. (Pugliano) Smith, of Camp Hill, PA, two sons, Richard J. "Rick" Smith and his wife Mary, of Enola, PA, and Scott F. Smith and his wife Carolyn, of Hummelstown, PA, a daughter, Julie M. Smith, of Huntingdon, PA, two brothers, Thomas F. Smith and his wife Peg, of West Mifflin, PA, and Frank D. Smith and his wife Petey, of Duquesne, PA, and six grandchildren, Zaniyah, Scarlett, Anastasia, Mickleson Richard, Matilda, and Laura.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 26th, in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA, and in the church on Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the mass. Burial will be held following the mass in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
