Richard "Dick" B. Scott, 74, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Saturday June 27, 2020 at Hospice of Central PA - Carolyn's House, Harrisburg, PA. Born on August 31, 1945 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Helen Irene Brumbaugh. Dick was a graduate of Big Spring High School; he went on to complete his bachelor's degree at Shippensburg University. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. Dick was a teacher for 30 years in Central Dauphin School District. He taught 5th grade at Paxtang Elementary for 20 years and 3rd grade at North Side Elementary for 10 years. Dick was an avid horseshoe pitcher. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, Eastern Pennsylvania Horseshoe Pitchers Association, a past President of the New Cumberland Horseshoe Club, and he was Inducted into the York County Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 2000, and the Pennsylvania Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 2009. He was also an avid bowler for many years and an active member of the Hershey Free Church. Dick is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Beth Scott, of Camp Hill, PA; a son, Justin Scott and his partner Brad Vores, of Etters, PA; a brother, Gary Brumbaugh and his wife Daeng, of Camp Hill, PA/Thailand; a sister, Joyce Shirley, of Shippensburg, PA; two brothers-in-law, David Sheppard, Jr., of Harrisburg, and Paul Sheppard and his wife Amy, of Griswold, CT; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Leonard Brumbaugh, a brother, Michael Scott, a sister, Sharon Alleman, and a sister-in-law, Karen Sheppard. All are invited to attend a celebration of Dick's life to be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday July 13, 2020 in the Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road Hummelstown, PA 17036, with Pastor Omar Zook officiating. Burial will be private and handled at the convenience of the family in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
