Obituary

Ray Alwine Garver Jr., 82 of Camp Hill, PA, passed away June, 21, 2019 at his home, after a multidecade battle with Amyloidosis.
Born January 11, 1937 in Hershey, PA he is the son of the late Ray Alwine and Margaret Elizabeth (Keville) Garver.
After graduating from Mechanicsburg High School, Ray joined the U.S. Navy. Ray was the owner/operator of the West Shore Farmers Market in Lemoyne, PA until his retirement in 2001 at which time he passed the reigns to his daughter Tracy and son-in-law Greg.
Ray was one of the original racers at Silver Spring Speedway, driving the number 00. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, playing cards, and ice cream. However his favorite times were spent with his grandchildren on their Nana and Pap-Pap days.
Ray is survived by his two sisters, Betty Kreitzer, and Jean Moyer; his daughter Tracy Katshir and husband Greg, of Camp Hill, his step-sons Robert Barr of Mechanicsburg, PA and Richard Barr and wife Christine, of Mechanicsburg, PA; his grandchildren Hannah Ray Katshir, Riley John Katshir, Charles Penn Katshir, Nathan Barr and wife Megan, Tyler Barr, and Katie Barr.
In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by his wife Donna L. (Harden) Garver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, PA with Pastor Don Wahlig officiating. A viewing will be held at Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 24, 2019, and Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Private burial with Military honors will be held in Hillsdale Cemetery, Middletown, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Amyloid Research Fund, Boston University School of Medicine, 72 East Concord Street, K503, Boston, MA 02118.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Howard Cohen for an early Amyloidosis diagnosis. You gave us an extra 20 years with our brother, father, and grandfather. For that we are eternally grateful!
