Paul M. Sheaffer, 100, of Camp Hill, PA passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Woods at Cedar Run.
Paul was the son of the late Elmer G, and Grace M. Sheaffer.
Paul graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1934. After which we served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. After his time serving his country in the Army, he started a career as a clerk/carrier at the Camp Hill Post Office in 1942 where he later retired as a Postmaster in 1972.
In addition to his parents, Paul is predeceased by his Wife Audrey L. (Shreiner) Sheaffer, and a brother, Kenneth M. Sheaffer.
He is survived by his Daughter Nancy F. and husband W. Reed Ernst, of Camp Hill. Three Grandchildren, Jeffery and wife Jann, Brett and wife Star, and Julie and husband Doug George. Paul was also blessed with six great grandchildren, Katelyn and Jon Ernst, Cole and Hailey George, and Madison and Mackenzie Ernst.
Paul enjoyed time on the golf course. He was also an expert craftsman, making handmade Grandfather clocks, roll-top desks, doll houses, wooden golf cart and car replicas, and table and chairs for his family. Paul made and displayed a replica of the Peace Church at the Cumberland County Historical Society in Carlisle, PA. He also built a boat and enjoyed using it on Susquehanna river.
Paul was a member of the Peace Church, Calvary United Methodist Church in Lemoyne, The Camp Hill Lions Club, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, The national Association of Letter Carriers, and a past commander of Post 8172 VFW.
Private graveside services will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at St. John's Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. A visitation will be held from 1:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. at Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, 1903 Market St. Camp Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Grane Hospice, 4 Lemoyne Dr., Lemoyne, PA 17043.
