On Sunday, December 18, 2016, Jesus said, "Come unto me my good and faithful servant,"and Pastor Richard F. Shover was called home. Richard was born on December 13, 1927 in Mechanicsburg, Pa., the son of the late Richard and Elmira Shover. Pastor Shover graduated from Camp Hill High School in 1945 and attended West Chester University for 3 years. He then graduated from Thompson Business School. He received his Certificate of Ordination from The Churches Of God General Conference in 1983 after completing the East Pennsylvania Eldership course of studies. Pastor Shover was employed by Nationwide Insurance for 25 years. He pastored the Nagle Street Church Of God for 3 years and the Camp Hill Church of God for 25 years. After his retirement, he was the Visitation Pastor for 10 years. During his tenure with the Churches of God, Pastor Shover served for 16 years on the Board of Directors at the Church of God Home in Carlisle. He also served as financial secretary for the Churches of God. In his younger years, Pastor Shover coached Little League Baseball in Camp Hill for 13 years. In 1953, his Camp Hill team finished fourth in the Little League World Series in Williamsport. He officiated high school and college football for 15 years and had the privilege of officiating the Big 33 game in 1960. Pastor Shover is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Iris Ryan Shover, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. He is also survived by sons Stephen (Deborah), Bradford (Vicki) and Richard (JoAnn), along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Never was there a better friend, father or grandfather. Pastor Shover will be loved, forever, and we will meet him, again, one day. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22 at The Camp Hill Church of God, located at 123 N. 21st St. Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. The service will begin at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to the Camp Hill Church of God.
