Mary Loretta "Mary Lou" Gillespie of Camp Hill passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017 at Messiah Village. Born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Maurice and Eva (Roush) Mannion on May 2, 1931, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard A Gillespie, and her eldest daughter, Mary Christine Olsyn of West Chester, PA. She was also preceded in death by her brother Maurice A Mannion of Erie, PA. Surviving are her children Richard A, of Glens Falls, NY, Michael J (Deanna) of Mechanicsburg, Andrew J (Karin) of Princeton, NJ, Reverend Philip S of Anderson, SC, Jennifer I Sullivan (Andrew) of Camp Hill, and a beloved son-in-law Gerald A Olsyn of West Chester, PA.
Mary Lou was known for enjoying spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, movies, and long conversations with her friends and family that included lots of wit and laughter. Mary Lou had quiet strength and courage and was known for being incredibly kind and generous. She was a longtime friend of Bill W and Dr. Bob, and through that friendship she was restored to sanity and lived the remainder of her life with joy. Now at the loving hands of a merciful God, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother of 17, a great-grandmother of 12 and with deep admiration from many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday January 27, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 310 Hertzler Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA, with Rev. Philip Gillespie as Celebrant. A viewing will be held in the Church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the mass. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday January 30, 2017 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
