Born January 2nd, 1940 in La Paz Bolivia to the late Alfredo Del Rio and Lola Garcia Del Rio, Martha grew up alongside her beloved siblings Rosario, Lola "Chipi", Alfredo "Picho", and Elena.

Showing a love for music and dance at an early age, she began training in ballet at fifteen and eventually performed in professional productions of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. Martha never gave up her love of dance, and would often be compelled into movement by a passing tune.

After immigrating to Washington, DC, she met her husband, Rodrigo Gutierrez, and became a naturalized US citizen. Employment opportunities brought them to Lewisberry Pennsylvania, where they started a family and celebrated the birth of their two children, Andres and Claudia. Martha went on to retire after a long career with the Pennsylvania State Attorney General's Office.

Her culinary exploits, skills at knitting, crocheting, sewing and ceramics were well known amongst family and friends. And her deep love of animals was evident with her uncanny ability to put them at ease.

She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, kindness, and laughter. Her loving heart made her a mother to many who were lucky enough to know her. Her life was not measured by one great accomplishment but rather countless acts of kindness.

On October 6th, 2024, in Maytown, Pennsylvania, Martha passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
