Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) M. Alford 69, of Camp Hill, died Friday at home following a difficult bout with ALS. Her devoted husband, John G. Alford, enjoyed her love and friendship for 47 years.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, April 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Lillian G. & Donald B. Mitchell was a graduate of Baldwin-Whitehall School District and Muskingum College. While in college, Peggy spent her junior year abroad as a student at the University of Madrid in Spain and then went on to work toward a master's degree in education at Penn State University. Continuing her love for education, she went on to teach history and Spanish at Gateway High School in Pittsburgh, Peters Township High School in suburban Pittsburgh, and retired from Red Land High School within the West Shore School District.
With a strong devotion to her faith, she was an active member of the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth program mentor, women's association officer, member of Quilters and Crafters for Mission, Esther circle leader, kitchen aide and a tireless volunteer wherever needed.
Peggy will be forever remembered for the deep love, leadership and devotion she showed to her family and numerous friends alike as well as the tremendous joy she brought to all the lives she touched.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Peggy is survived by her loving husband, John G. Alford; brother, Donald C. Mitchell; daughter, Leigh Ellen Alford Baca & her husband, Michael; son, Adam James Alford & his wife Emily; and 4 adoring grandchildren, Peter & Megan Baca, and Alexis & Evan Alford.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 2:00PM at her church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of service.
