Obituary

Judy Marie (Spotts) Shanabrough, 74, of Carlisle, formerly of Bethany Beach, DE and Camp Hill, Pa passed away October 8, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born October 9, 1941 in Valley View, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Marlin and Marie (Coleman)Spotts. Judy graduated from the West Shore School District and was a retired case manager for the Office for Dispute Resolution in Harrisburg. She loved spending time with her family, friends and graciously welcomed newcomers to her home and life. Judy enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, reading and was always open to new experiences. Her most favorite things to do was spend time at the beach. Along with her parents, she was preceeded in death by two sons, Michael (Shanabrough)Yurcic and Matthew Shanabrough. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, B.P. "Shanny" Shanabrough and her children John Cook, husband of Kimberly of Hudson, NH, Donald Cook, husband of Kelly of Mechanicsburg, Pa, Joan (Cook) Greiss, wife of William of Alburtis, Pa, Julie (Gabel) Schweitzer, wife of Craig of Mechanicsburg, Pa and Anita (Shanabrough)Maher of New Cumberland, Pa. Judy is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason, Jim, Jordan, Robby, Alex, Sam, Alexander, Nicholas, Michael, Zachary, Erika, Amy, Ann Marie, Destinee, Presley, Paris, and Brooke, as well as, 7 great grandchildren. Judy also leaves behind her brothers, Larry Spotts husband of Betty of Kokomo, IN and Ralph Spotts, husband of Beth Hager of New Cumberland, Pa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Services will be held Saturday November 12, 2016 at Country & Town Baptist Church, 220 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, Pa beginning with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. The family would like to extend their warmest wishes and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Homeland Hospice for the love, care and attention they shared during the last few weeks of Judy's life. It was their tenderness and comfort which helped us through this challenging time.
