Joseph T. Ross, Jr., 75, of Palmyra and formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Colonial Park Care Center, Harrisburg. He was the loving husband of Carol N. (Stipe) Ross, with whom he had shared over 52 years of marriage. Born in Girardville, Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Veda Ross. He was a 1957 graduate of Trevorton High School, Northumberland County. Joseph retired as a machinist for Norfolk Southern Railway, Enola Yard, in 2002. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and loved to make bird houses and bird feeders for friends and family. Joseph was a long-time member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, their daughter, Denise, son, Joseph T. Ross, III, all of Palmyra, their son, Craig K. Ross, and his wife Tammie of Camp Hill, and grandchildren Kyle, Brandon, Andrew and Abigail. Additionally, he is survived by brothers Robert Ross (Linda) of Camp Hill, and Richard Ross (Sandy) of Hagerstown, MD, sisters Ruth Gibson (Jack) of East Pennsboro Township, and Lois Hudock of Middletown, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, a twin sister, Joyce, who died in infancy and his sister, Jean Portzline. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 on Friday, January 24, at Myers-Harner Funeral Home in Camp Hill with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00, Friday morning. Interment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
