Obituary

John C. Guenther, 70, of Harrisburg, passed away on April 5, 2018 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born June 27, 1947 in Glen Rock, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Beggs) Guenther.
John was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York and was a US Army Veteran (9th Infantry) who served in the Vietnam War. John had a distinguished career as a Chef/restaurant owner and was named as PA's Executive Chef of the Year in 1983. He was the owner of Mobile Auto Restoration Services. He loved his classic cars, his Harley, and his dog Millie. He was renowned for his famous clam chowder and rice pudding. He attended the Calvary United Methodist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 730 in Harrisburg.
He is survived by his son Jim Guenther, of Seattle, WA; his brother W. Richard Guenther of Daytona, FL; Virginia Myers and grandson Steven Myers of Camp Hill, PA.
Visitation will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday April 12, 2018 at Myers-Harner Funeral Home (1903 Market St Camp Hill). Services will be held at 12:30 PM. A procession to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will follow.
