John T. Grove 75, of Mechanicsburg passed away Wednesday December 17, 2014 at his home. He was born October 14, 1939 in Harrisburg to the late John D. and Rose Marie Bradley Grove.
Alumni of Princeton University, Graduate of Elizabethtown College, received his master's degree from Shippensburg University and earned his principal certificate from Bucknell University He was a retired principal from the former John Harris High School where he was a teacher and principal for 35 years. He had also worked for The Arc of York County for 11 years.
He was a member of the Harrisburg Bridge Club. John was a member of St Andrew's in the Valley Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry as a Senior Warden, lector reader and a member of the church choir.
He was preceded in death by his step son Gordon J. Schreier, esq.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Patricia Grove, three sons: John Paul of Camp Hill, Joel Thomas of Camp Hill and James Whitney of Mechanicsburg, one daughter: Janine Marie of Camp Hill, one step son Ian J. Schreier of Stroudsburg, two Stepdaughters Jacqueline P.M. Latshaw of Harrisburg Alexandra M. Schreier of Mechanicsburg, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday from his church with the Rev. William Alford officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
