John N. "Jack" Colberg, age 89, passed away on December 17, 2013, at Messiah Village. He was born February 4, 1924, in Silver Creek, New York. He is preceded in death by his parents Lester W. and Mary (Butler) Colberg, and a sister, Marion D. Mack.
John graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1941. He graduated with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1948 where he lettered on their basketball and baseball teams. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the C. C. of Harrisburg, Colonial CC, and Carlisle CC at various times.
John served in the Army Air Corps in World War ll and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill, where he had served as an Elder.
He retired from the lngersoll-Rand Company in 1988 where he was Eastern Regional Manager of the Construction and Mining Division.
A loving husband and father, John is survived by his wife, Dona; three children, John L. Colberg of Huntersville, NC, Kristin Harad and son-in-law Mitchel Harad of San Francisco, CA, and Kathryn Rhoad and son-in-law Frank Rhoad of Ellicott City, MD; five grandchildren, Emma and lsabel Colberg of Huntersville, Daniel and Parker Harad of San Francisco, and Robert Jack Rhoad of Ellicott City; two sisters, Jane Whitwood of Overland Park, KS, and Kathleen Coleton of Vienna, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday December 28 in the Christ Presbyterian Church, 421 Deerfield Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 with the Rev. Heather Sigler and Rev. Brian Hanson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, is handling funeral arrangements.
