Obituary

Joann (Tesno) Miller, 85, of Etters, PA, originally of Ashland, PA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.

Born on January 30, 1938, in Ashland, PA, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Estella (Welker)

Tesno.

Joann was a 1955 graduate of Ashland High School. Her family then moved to Harrisburg where she

worked for Bell Telephone, during this time she met her husband Paul. She then worked for Book-of-the-Month Club, Red Land High School cafeteria (when her kids were in school) and retired as a Claims Secretary for the Pennsylvania Medical Society Liability Insurance Company (PMSLIC). She was a longtime member of St. Timothy Lutheran

Church in Camp Hill where she taught Sunday school.

Joann was always happy to lend a hand. When her daughters were in school, she was quite the "Marching Band Mom". While she was enjoying retirement, Joann devoted her time to her grandkids, family, and friends. If she wasn't home, she was with her grandkids, spending time at her sisters, or driving around with Paul. They would spend many miles together driving anywhere they wanted. Family was her joy and passion.

Joann always had a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye, and a witty comment to share. No matter the scenario, she brought the mood up. Her senior yearbook quote seems to have said it best: "Merry and mischievous… very loquacious… extremely flirtatious… how those dark eyes sparkle… wherever there are boys, there is Joann… future beautician… pampered baby of the clan."

Joann is survived and deeply missed by her two daughters; Lorraine Miller (of Etters) and Doris McElhenie & her husband Jim (of New Cumberland), four grandchildren; Emilie McElhenie, Mackenzie Miller, Garrett McElhenie, and Olivia McElhenie, three brother in-laws; Robert Miller (wife Theresa), Ronald Miller, and Bud Engle, many nieces & nephews, and great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Paul N. Miller, four brothers; Robert, Harold, Edmund, and Donald, and five sisters; Ruth, Lois, Gertrude, Edith, Helen, and many In-laws.
