Joan Frances Haufler, of Camp Hill, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 2, 2016. She was born December 31, 1929 in New York, the daughter of Frances and Louis Mueller.

Joan graduated from Westfield High School in New Jersey, and Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, where she earned a degree in Art Education. She was employed as a draftsman by Bell Telephone Laboratories, and as an illustrator by the USDA Soil Conservation Service.

She had a lifelong interest in art, and was one of the early members of the Mechanicsburg Art Club. She also was a member of the Art Association of Harrisburg, and was a Charter and Signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. She also loved traveling, both within the US and abroad, and enjoyed history, ancient religions, musical theatre, and nature.

After retirement, she became an avid golfer and member of the Carlisle Country Club. She was a longtime volunteer at Cleve J. Frederickson Library in Camp Hill.

She is survived by her loving husband Herbert E. Haufler of Camp Hill, PA; her brother Howard L. Mueller of Lakewood, NJ; her children Michael D. Haufler and his wife Amy Jo Haufler of Westminster, MD, Virginia A. Haufler of Silver Spring, MD, Margery J. Haufler and her husband Michael Walsh of Conshohocken, PA, and Carol F. Haufler of Philadelphia, PA; and her grandchildren Kyle, Eric and Alex Haufler.

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. The service will be followed by a reception 1-3pm at the Carlisle Country Club, 1242 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, PA 17013.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, whose nurses and aides provided exceptional and loving care.
