Janice L. McLaren, a long-time resident of Cumberland County, passed away at Harrisburg Hospital on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, following a sudden stroke. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Janice lived in Honolulu, Hawaii before moving to Central Pennsylvania. She retired in 2009, after a lengthy career at Capital Blue Cross. Janice loved to travel, especially to the oceanfront, and was an avid reader. A breast cancer survivor, she was very active in support groups for other breast cancer victims. She also volunteered annually as an elections worker at her local polling place and doted on her pet cats. She was an excellent baker, a skill learned from her mother; but, despite great efforts, was unsuccessful in passing that skill onto her sons. She is survived by her two sons, Chris Chwastyk and Devin Chwastyk, her daughter-in-law, Michelle Rios, her sister, Kathryn Krause, a large extended family and many friends. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 12th at 2:00 P.M. in the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, with a visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
