Obituary

Janet A. Bracken, 87, of Johnstown, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Harrisburg, PA.

Born on September 3, 1938, in Cassandra, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Esther (Nagle) Lee.

Janet attended Portage High School in Portage, PA. Prior to her retirement she was a seamstress that worked at a clothing factory making dresses. She also worked in the housekeeping department at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA. Janet was a faithful catholic and attended both St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Willmore, PA and Holy Family Church (formerly St Joseph's Church), in Portage, PA. Janet was an avid reader, even after a decline in her vision she enjoyed listening to audio books.

Janet enjoyed being outside, in her early adulthood she loved spending weekends camping with her family, and in her later years she enjoyed sitting out on the deck with her beloved cat. Janet made the best home cooked meals, she put her whole heart into everything she made. Above all, Janet loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Lori A. (Bracken) DeVelin and her husband Edward, of Middletown, PA; a son, Duane Bracken and his wife Marlene, of Portage, PA, a sister, Dolores Mutch, of Portage, PA, six grandchildren, Eddie DeVelin, Elizabeth (DeVelin) Roesch and her husband Jacob, Joshua Bracken and his wife Kayleigh, Ryan Bracken and his wife Tracey, Marisa Bracken, and Cecilia Bracken, a great-granddaughter, Grace Roesch, a niece, Sherry Kowalczyk, and a nephew, Dennis Yetsko.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane J. Bracken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 185 Church Hill Rd, Portage, PA, with Rev. Joseph Nale as Celebrant. A viewing will be held in the church on Wednesday, from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be held following the Mass in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Cemetery, Portage, PA. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
