James E. Williams, 69, succumbed to a short battle with Plasmatic Lymphoma/Myeloma cancer at Holy Spirit Hospital on Monday, March 17th, 2014. He was born on September 7, 1944 in Winchester, VA, son of the late Elizabeth and George Williams, who later migrated from the Pittsburgh area to New Cumberland. He resided with his wife of 46 yrs, Janet, in Windsor Pk, Lower Allen Twp., for the last 42 years. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, York Junior College, and Elizabethtown College in Business Administration. He served as a proud veteran in the US Army overseas in Germany. Primarily a Purchasing Agent for most of his life, Jim was associated with PR Hoffman Co., Carlisle, the City of Harrisburg (under Mayor Swensen), Herre Bros, Allis Chalmers Valve Div., York, and Voith Hydro, York, where he purchased steel from around the world. Taking early retirement, he pursued a lively career in real estate that he shared as a team with his wife for the last 14 years, contracting with Coldwell Banker, Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA, and most recently Howard Hanna. Jim was also an avid record collector, flea-market enthusiast, and life-long Phillies baseball fan.
Jim has two daughters who reside in Lower Paxton Twp: Michelle Miller and Virginia Bailey (partner Brad Bailey) as well as two grandsons, Gage and Shane Bailey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 22, 2014 in the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill. A viewing will be held in the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday March 21st and also on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held immediately following the service in Rolling Green Cemetery.
