James E. McManus, 92, of Camp Hill, PA passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Holy Spirit Hospital, with his great-niece by his side.
He was born May 14, 1933, in Locustdale, PA, the son of the late Thomas P. and Isabelle (Proctor) McManus. He married Sandra F. (Farren) McManus; she preceded him in death.
He graduated from Ashland High School. He was a United States Navy veteran having served from February 10, 1953, until honorably discharged to the Naval Reserves on February 5, 1957. He then attended Bloomsburg State College, now Bloomsburg University, where he graduated with a teacher's degree. He had taught middle school mathematics, then worked with the PA Department of Labor and Industry in Human Resources and Unemployment with over 40 years of service.
James was of the 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He also was a member of the Camp Hill Elks Club. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill and belonged to the Knights of Columbus at Good Shepherd. He was a devoted Catholic and was very spiritual. He enjoyed traveling when he could and enjoyed politics.
He is survived by a nephew Edward James Krapf, four great-nieces Candyce Flickinger and her husband Norman, and their children Hope and Gage; Kelly Cavanes and her husband Anthony; Kathryn Schneider and her husband Justin and their children Meadow and Elliot; and Stephanie Rottenberger and her husband Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Thomas McManus, two sisters Isabel Krapf and Lorraine Freeman, a niece Eileen and a niece-in-law Claire Krapf.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011, with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral mass at the church.
Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Fountain Springs, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial masses be requested for him at Good Shepherd Church, 3435 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
