James M. Lloyd passed peacefully at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA, on Monday, February 27, 2017. Jim was born at Harrisburg Hospital on May 16, 1936, and grew up in Camp Hill graduating from Camp Hill High School in 1955. He attended Paul Smiths' College of Arts and Sciences in upstate New York where he received an Associate Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1957. He subsequently matriculated to Florida State University receiving a BS in Business Administration from there in 1960. In 1960 and 1961 he traveled for Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity in the position of National Traveling Counselor. Jim's professional career centered on the food service industry. He was Food Service Director at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in New Jersey; Director of Food Services and Director of the Faculty Club, both at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia; and later Food Service Director for Philadelphia National Bank which later became part of First Union National Bank and from where he retired in 2001. Jim was predeceased by his parents Rees and Adeline Lloyd and by his sisters Elizabeth Mays and Carolyn Lindquist. He is survived by his nieces Carol Burke of Dayton, OH, and Sharman Eckhardt of Billings MT; and his nephew Samuel (Rory) Mays of Dayton. He is also survived by his loving grandnieces Erica (Brette) Kubea of Noblesville, IN, Erin Golden of Dayton, and Ellie Eckhardt of Billings; and his grand nephews Samuel Adam Mays of Dayton and Leonard Eckhardt of Helena, MT. In his post-retirement years, Jim resided at Asbury Bethany Village retirement community in Mechanicsburg, PA, where he was an active participant in committee work and where he made many lasting friends who will miss him dearly. His family would like to thank all the staff and residents of Bethany for the kindness, care and friendship they afforded Jim with a special thanks to Mr. John Bowen for his compassionate and professional assistance. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, March 7, at the Bethany Village Chapel, 335 Wesley Dr, Mechanicsburg, PA, with visitation at 10:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Asbury Bethany Village or the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Scholarship Fund in Charlotte NC.
