James T. Conroy, 98, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Born on January 8, 1926, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Amelia Maria Catherina (Mahle) Conroy.

Jim was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers Senior High School in Wilkes-Barre. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Kings College. He was a Sergeant in the US Army who served during WWII. Jim was a retired computer programmer with the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill, PA.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Usually with a smile on his face, he had a way of making others feel comfortable, and he was known throughout his many years as a gentle, considerate, and truly kind man.

Jim and his wife Sally enjoyed hosting family gatherings, whether it was pool parties in the summer or holiday parties in the winter. No matter the occasion, Jim always found a reason to celebrate and share a laugh with his family.

Jim and Sally were very involved in the lives of their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, from helping with homework to cheering on the sidelines of sporting events.

Jim enjoyed travelling with Sally and their daily walks around Camp Hill. He loved the library and believed that each of us can learn so much just by sitting down and opening a good book. In his 98 years of life, Jim never stopped learning, always kept an open mind, and was always thrilled to experience modern technology.

He was an avid gardener, bird watcher, and artist. If he wasn't in the garden, he could be found in his spare bedroom turned art studio, patiently painting the landscapes he would later gift to his loved ones.

Jim loved to sit with Sally on their patio swing to watch the birds and sing their favorite songs. Through 64 years of marriage, Jim's love and devotion to his best friend Sally inspired everyone around him.

His coworkers became friends through the decades, and his sense of humor and quick wit brought so many smiles to so many people. He appreciated those who surrounded him, and he made many memories of laughter and love in his later years as part of the Country Meadows family.

He taught the value of love, kindness, humor, and joy, inspiring these values in the lives he touched. We will carry these values into the future in tribute to him and the memory of his smile.

Jim was a beloved treasure of a man, and the countless memories of his wit and sly grin will always keep us smiling.

He is survived by a large, loving family, including four daughters and their husbands: Linda (and Fred), Sally (and David), Chrissy (and Jim), and Sherri (and Keith); 14 grandchildren: Jenn (Eric), Andrea (Shawn), Jason (Yanitza), Michael, Melissa (Jorge), Jessica, Jenny, Jimmy, Kailie, Jessa (Connor), Brett, Jordan, Blake, and Bridget; and 7 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Abi, Maddie, Savanah, Aubree, Elijah, and River.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally L. (Hafele) Conroy, and eight siblings.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 19, 2024, in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, with Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Celebrant. A viewing will be held in the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the mass. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003. All who plan to attend the graveside service on Monday are asked to please meet directly at the cemetery at 1:15 P.M.
