Imani Mandela Carryl, 27, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at his home in Mechanicsburg.
Born on October 26, 1998, in Linden, Guyana, he was the son of Horace Carryl and Gem (Sancho) Carryl.
Imani was an honor roll student and graduate of East Pennsboro High School, Enola, PA. He went on to attend Albright College in Reading, PA, where he received a full academic scholarship. He was a member of the Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church. He worked at West Shore Country Club for eight years in dining services. In his youth, he volunteered his time helping with the youth services at his church. Imani enjoyed spending time on social media, discussing topics of psychology, social issues, and his musical creativity. He also enjoyed a good challenge on the basketball court.
Imani is survived by his parents, Horace Carryl, of San Antonio, TX, his mother, Gem (Sancho) Carryl, of Camp Hill, PA, three sisters, Horacia Carryl, of Camp Hill, PA, Suzette Parry, her husband Brandon and their son Iniko, of Maui, HI, and Zaina Carryl, of San Antonio, TX. His maternal relatives includes Uncles: Earl Cameron, his wife Rosalind and their children Roderick, Odetta, and Rashawn of New Jersey, Anthony Corbin of Brooklyn, NY, Wayne Cameron, of Manhattan, NY, Garfield Cameron and his children: Gevon White, Isabella Sancho, and Kennard Corbin, Seon Sancho, Gordon Mosley and Reginald Sancho, of Guyana; His paternal relatives includes Uncles: Colin Carryl and his children: Stacey, Warren and Andrae Carryl, Patrick Carryl and his children, Nicolas, Jason,and Ryan; Andrew Carryl and his children: Jamal, Randy and Jermaine, and Ivor Carryl and his children: Gabriela and Toussiant Carryl; as well as his Aunts: Denise Carryl, Grace Carryl-Roberts, her husband Glenn Roberts and their children Saeed, Safiya, and Sean; Sandra Carryl Simon, her husband Lennox Simon, and their children Savannah, Jarrel, Chelsea, Shaquella and Laressa; Roxanne Carryl and her daughters: Marcia Cave and Sasquea Carryl; Samantha Carryl Hanniball and her children: Brianna, Bralee, and Brooke; Jackie Carryl and her children: Jason, Justin and Kevin; and, Abby Carryl and her children: Rohanna, Kimberly and Kevin Carryl.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Agnes Carryl, and his maternal grandparents, Rose Cameron, and Stanley Sancho.
A visitation with Imani's family will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Saturday, April 4, at the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday in the funeral home, with Rev. Hank Johnson officiating.
