H.R. "Bob" Wigand, of Middle Paxton Township, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Thursday evening, March 22, 2018.
Bob was born and raised in Steelton, PA. He was the son of the late Henry and Martha Jane (Seiders) Wigand. He graduated from Steelton-Highspire and Elizabethtown College. He completed work for his Master's Degree at Wharton School of Business. He was a regional manager for Swift & Co. in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre territory. Upon returning to Harrisburg he worked for the Department of Education writing grants for Pennsylvania school districts. Some of those models are still in use today. He retired as Director of Data Processing (now Information Systems) for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
In retirement he enjoyed being frustrated with the game of golf and working at the open-air market at the Farm Show Building. He was a loyal Penn State Football Fan.
Bob is survived by his wife, Karen M. Appel, daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Donnie Miller, of Robesonia, and sister and brother-in-law, Jane Wigand and Bert Frey, of Camp Hill.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, PA 17011, with Pastor Jack Horner officiating. A visitation with Bob's family will be held in the church on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service.
