Hjordis Penny K. (Bowers) Nickel, 80, a resident at The Gardens at West Shore, in Camp Hill, PA, formerly of New Holland, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Penny was born on November 9, 1944, in Berks County, PA, the daughter to the late Minerva (Baus) Becker and Elder Bowers, and sibling to: Larry Bowers, and Karen Cooper. Her entrepreneurial drive, and a desire to be a small business owner, afforded her many opportunities to engage with the community. Highlights include: AKC Dog Breeder, Ceramic Shop Owner, Flower Shop Owner, Amish Cookbook Publisher, and Independent Driver for Amish School Teachers. Penny enjoyed spending time with her children: David Bowers Klugh Doug Klugh Dean DeWald Jeanene (DeWald) Olenick and Scott DeWald. She delighted in her family growing to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Bowers, and her son, David Bowers Klugh. A private memorial service and internment is planned.
