It is with profound sadness that the family of Henry B. Collins, aged 71, announces his peaceful passing at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Henry was born in Philadelphia on September 23, 1953, to the late Henry and Ellen (Steel) Collins. Henry graduated from Upper Darby High School, then went on to obtain his Master of Science degree in Geochemistry and Mineralogy. He eventually migrated to the technology side of business working at AMP (a manufacturer of electronics) as a materials engineer for many years in top positions. He retired from Z-Band, now known as Z-Band Technologies, as Vice President of Engineering. He was also awarded a United States Coast Guard License to be a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer. This allowed him to be Captain of deep-sea family fishing vessels in Wildwood, NJ. Henry loved life on the water, working on fishing boats since he was a young boy. He was an avid fisherman, known for going fishing in his 25 boat, even on the worst weather days. Fearless Henry was adventurous and it was rare that his adventures were without danger. For example, he climbed some of the highest mountains, loved white water rafting even on rough days, hot air ballooning, scuba diving and bungee jumping. Henry also loved to travel. His jobs and personal desires took him to countries all over the world. He was known for eating anything he could find in foreign countries...mostly indescribable things that wiggled and were slimy. Later on, he loved being on cruise ships, savoring what each port of call provided. In addition, he enjoyed home rentals in various coastal states. In his down time, Henry enjoyed reading. Another love was watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Henry is survived by his loving wife Nancy Boker children Christina (Joseph) Shartle and Mark (Kelly) Dennis and grandchildren Michael Shartle, Anna Shartle, Josephine Shartle, Caitlyn Dennis, and Carissa Dennis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Henrys name to the Marine Conservation Institute (marine-conservation.org) or Ocean Conservancy (oceanconservancy.org). Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, in the Chapel of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
