Helene Virginia Schmidt, 85, of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully on Thursday February 5, 2015, surrounded by family.
Born in Shenandoah, PA, she was one of William and Grace (McBride) Carter's seven children.
Helene graduated from Shenandoah Catholic High School and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
During her career as a pharmacist, Helene worked at HealthSouth Rehab and at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Helene was a parishioner at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill where she sang in the choir. She was an artist, a member of the Ladies Therapy Group and the Trinity Athletic Association Volunteers. Helene was blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Helene is survived by Jack, her husband of 57 years, and her children; John (Dona) in Blue Bell, PA; David (Marguerite) in Chapel Hill, NC; Robert (Ali) in Saco, ME; Karen Rafferty in Blue Bell, PA; grandchildren, Christa, Regina, Dona, Will, Sophie, Andrew, Jessica, Patrick, Brendan and Christopher; a great-granddaughter, Olivia; and a sister, Carol Ann (Kevin) Boland of Annandale, VA.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday February 9, 2015 in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, with the Rev. Paul C. Helwig as celebrant. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 10:00 until the time of the mass. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg
