Hazel L. Hilt, 102, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Penn State Hampden Medical Center.

Born March 9, 1922, in New England, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Lena (Larson) Ulestad.  She married John Hilt on January 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1978.

Hazel worked in retail for many years. She was also a daytime nanny until the age of 80. Hazel was a Cub Scout leader, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and was very active at the senior center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she loved dancing and socializing. Hazel was a good card player, loved to travel and family was everything to her. Her infectious smile and sense of humor brought joy to so many throughout her life.

Hazel is survived by her children John (Karie) Hilt, Jr. of Newcastle, Wyoming, Michael (Roberta) Hilt of Melbourne, Australia and Carol (Richard) Myxter of Mechanicsburg, PA, nine grandchildren Melissa Hilt of Casper, Wyoming, Thomas (Christine) Hilt of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Beth (Thomas) Lyon of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kristen (Jeffrey) Heisey of Elizabethtown, PA, Len (Martha) Hilt of Casper, WY, Ryan (Megan) Myxter of Hatboro, PA, Harrison Hilt of Melbourne, Australia, Katherine Hilt of Melbourne, Australia, Tessa Hilt of Melbourne, Australia and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hilt, and eleven brothers and sisters.

The memorial service will be held at the family's discretion.
