Gregory D. Mace, 65, of Camp Hill, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Gregg was born on April 12, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Iris R. (Colman), of Mechanicsburg, and the late Raymond N. Mace.
Gregg spent 40 years as sports director at WHTM-TV abc27 in Harrisburg, covering high school, college, local professional, and major league sports for the station during his time. Attending Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications, Gregg worked in Hastings, Nebraska and Bel-Air, Maryland as a radio deejay before moving to Harrisburg to join abc27 in January 1979.
Gregg's passion was sports, attending sporting events with his family, especially Hershey Bears, Harrisburg Senators, and Baltimore Orioles games. His love for the Orioles was the greatest, attending 54 consecutive Orioles opening days.
In addition to his mother, Gregg is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Caroline C. (Coffman) Mace, of Camp Hill; and his son Kyle L. Mace, of Camp Hill; brother in law Robert and wife Annette Coffman, of Mechanicsburg; sister in laws Frances Coffman, of Mechanicsburg; and Mary Lee and husband Robin Carrolus, of Mechanicsburg; nephew Andrew and wife Shirah Carrolus, of East Berlin, PA, niece Leanne and husband Trevor Broadbent, of Enola, PA, niece Jennifer and husband David Coffman-DeWitt, of Durham, NC, nephew Robert and wife Melissa Coffman, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, niece Stephanie and husband Brian Esek, of Pittsburgh, PA, as well as a baker's dozen of loving grand-nieces and nephews. In addition to his immediate family, Gregg is also survived by lifelong friends and his TV family.
A Celebration of Gregg's life will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Giant Center, 550 Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA.
