Gloria A. Hutchinson, 81, of Harrisburg, passed away on Friday April 24, 2015 at the Jewish Home, Harrisburg.
Born on February 13, 1934 in Linglestown, PA, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Ethel (Thrush) Brickner.
Gloria was a 1951 graduate of Lower Paxton High School. Her class was the last to graduate before it became Central Dauphin. Following high school she was awarded the Sico Scholarship to attend Shippensburg State Teachers College where she achieved her degree in education. She went on to be a School Teacher within the West Shore School District for over 17 years. Growing up her father was a florist and this fueled Gloria's passion for flowers and plants. She played the piano in her younger years and later in life continued her love of music by playing the organ.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth R. Hutchinson, of Harrisburg; two sons, Gregory S. Hutchinson and his wife Jessie, of Harrisburg, and James F. McDonald, III, of Duncannon; one nephew, Bruce Brickner and his wife Deanna, of Mechanicsburg; two nieces, Karen Brickner, of Mechanicsburg, and Dottie Unger, of Florida; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Hutchinson, Jr.; a daughter, Kym I. Marsh; four sisters, Ethlyn Mayer, Gladys Mace, Violet and Georgetta Brickner; and one brother, Bob Brickner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, with the Rev. R. Jeffrey Fisher officiating. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
