Gerald Wayne Hoffman, 91, of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday June 28, 2015 at Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg. Born on April 30, 1924 in Akron, OH he was the son of the late Elmer C. and Mavious (Harmon) Hoffman. Gerald was a US Army Veteran of WWII. As a Staff Sgt. and Tank Commander he received five Battle Star Purple Hearts. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Mason in Victory Lodge # 649 F&AM, Ohio, Scottish Rite Consistory. He was a longtime member of West Shore Baptist Church, Camp Hill. Gerald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Odette (Kyler) Hoffman, of Mechanicsburg, two daughters, Delores Sheffield, of Mechanicsburg, E. Lyne Hoffman, of Altavista, VA, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Messimer, a brother, Elmer Hoffman, a sister, Leoma Kyler, and a grandson, David Messimer. A viewing will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, with a Masonic Service to be conducted at 7:00 P.M. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday July 2, 2015 at the West Shore Baptist Church, 2025 Market St., Camp Hill, with Pastor Gary Bruland Officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Shore Baptist Church, 2025 Market St., Camp Hill, PA 17011, or to Celtic Hospice, 220 Wilson St., #100, Carlisle, PA 17013.
