Georgette May Holubowicz, née Shaffer, a long-time resident of Camp Hill, PA, died on March 14, 2014, at the age of 85. Born on September 15, 1928 in Augustaville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Ellen (Raker) Shaffer. She had lived in Washington, DC since, 2008. Her husband, John, of nearly 55 years, preceded her in death in 1999. She was also predeceased by her brothers Allen Shaffer of Millersburg, PA and Curtis Shaffer of Ephrata, PA, her sister, Lillie Eyster of Irving, TX, and her half-brother, Dunleigh Shaffer of Millersburg, PA. Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Neal of Cumming, GA, Linda Rhine of Steubenville, OH, Deborah Thomas of Manakin Sabot, Virginia, and Desirée Magney of Chevy Chase, MD, and her sons-in-law, Tom Thomas and John Magney. She is also survived by her brother, Ernest Shaffer of Akron, PA. She has eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and all the children she lovingly cared for in her Camp Hill daycare. Caring for others was her life calling.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday March 17, 2014, in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, with the Rev. Paul C. Helwig as celebrant. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the mass. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
