Geoffrey M.
Hemming
Dec 31, 1953 — Jun 17, 2024
Geoffrey Mark Hemming (Geoff) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, at home surrounded by family members.
Born in Washington, D.C., Geoff grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland, where as luck would have it, he met his future wife, Kathleen Daley, on St. Patrick's Day. Geoff and Kathy were married for 39 years and lived together with their children over the years in Hyattsville and Derwood, Maryland.
Geoff was born with an innate sense of mechanical aptitude and could restore, fix, build, and maintain just about anything. He spent his career serving as the chief electrical engineer at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland, for over 20 years keeping the lights on and every single piece of equipment humming along. The beach, and the fishing that location afforded, was a favorite family vacation destination and the Hemming family enjoyed many happy summers in Nags Head, North Carolina.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Kathleen Hemming, his son, Alex Hemming and daughter, Erin Kort, along with their spouses Allie Hemming and James Kort. Five grandchildren, Daley, Ryan, and Teddy Hemming, and Eleanor and Vivian Kort will also miss their grandpa.
Burial in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, on Friday, June 21, is private.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life on Sunday, June 23, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Clyde's Tower Oaks, 2 Preserve Parkway, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011
