Fred Calvin Hower, age 94, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was born on September 19, 1929, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to the late Russell and Gladys (Cook) Hower. Preceding in death was his loving wife, Evelyn Mae (Harry) and brother Earl Hower. He is survived by his children, Daniel Scott (Kim) Hower and Shelly Lynn Hower Baker, his grandchildren Elizabeth Ann (Mike) Peluso, Christopher Scott Hower, Elise Alexandra (Jake) Salzl, and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Fred graduated from Camp Hill High School where he played football. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Penn State University where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He served in the Air Force and had a successful career selling heavy duty equipment for Cleveland Brothers Equipment Company. Fred enjoyed golfing and doing the jitter bug with his wife, collecting pre-WWII era toy trains, and listening to Big Band music. He was known in his neighborhood for having the best manicured lawn! Fred was a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
A viewing will be held from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Friday May 31, 2024, in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. in Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA.
