Wert Jr., Franklin Douglas "Doug" of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Born October 7, 1937, Doug went to be with our Lord on December 9, 2015 after a brief illness. His parents, Franklin D. Wert, Sr. and Mildred Wert; and his brother, David Wert, precede him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Wert and siblings: Carol (Adelino)Sanchez, Barbara (Alan)Hague, Donald (Susan), Deborah (Jeff) Emig; children: F. Douglas, Andrew (Meg), Susan (Dan) Vogler, Carolyn Worthen, Cathryn (Tom) Young, and four step-sons: Bill (Karen), Mikal (Kim), Scot (Melissa), and Robbe (Kristina); 22 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass to celebrate a life well lived will be held on Saturday, December 12, 9:30am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA. Flowers appreciated; however, please consider donating to the charity of your choice to honor Doug's philanthropic nature. Arrangements are being handled by Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Doug received his B.A. from Dickinson College in 1959, served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant, earned his MBA from Cornell University in 1962, and his J.D. from University of Akron in 1971. Doug spent his life serving and caring for others during his many years as a Health Administrator in Akron, OH; Weehawken, NJ ; Alliance, OH; Dayton, Ohio; and Westchester, Illinois. In 1991 he moved back to Pennsylvania to care for his aging parents and work within the Insurance industry. Brilliant and dedicated, faithful and caring, Doug raised nine children to adulthood (and beyond) with grace and love. He enjoyed acting, playing his saxophone, singing in men's chorales, creating exquisite woodwork, round and square-dancing at Flirts and Skirts with his wife, Ginny, watching his grandchildren's many activities, traveling with dear friends, working in the garden, playing games with friends, studying and sharing his fascinating genealogy. He was a Civil War expert and a fantastic guide for trips to Gettysburg. Without a doubt, he lived a full and varied life, and now continues his adventures in heaven with his parents, brother and many beloved dogs.
