Obituary

Eugene H. Hertz 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his home.
He was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School Hanover, Pa.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1948-1952, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean on the USS Macon CA 132. Eugene obtained the rank of Second Class Petty Officer.
He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where he served as usher and Eucharistic Minister.
He was a Traffic Engineer for United Telephone, Sprint, and Century Link, retiring from Century Link in 1991 with forty years of service. Eugene was a 4th Degree Knight of Bishop J.W. Shanahan # 917 Harrisburg, Pa. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and was an avid Phillies fan.
Eugene was a simple man who lived a simple life and loved his family.
He was predeceased by his wives: Janet Klunk Hertz and Gloria Bryant Hertz; and his son: Gregory Hertz.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Sandra Mannherz (Alan), Cynthia Poole (Mark), and Susan Wagner (Donald); 3 grandchildren: Matthew Parry (Rebecca), Steven Poole (Whitney), and Michael Poole (Laura); 3 great grandchildren: Ryan Parry, Caleb Parry and Mason Poole.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Church of the Good Shepherd with father Paul Helwig celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the church.
Contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011 to benefit the St. Francis Soup Kitchen.
