Ernest "Ernie" Shorrock, 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Monday April 1, 2019 at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born on August 22, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Nellie (Hodge) Shorrock.
Ernie was a Lieutenant of the US Army Corps of Engineers. He received his B.S. from Drexel University and went on to complete his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed the Executive Training Course at Carnegie Mellon University. Ernie retired from Bayer in 2002, where he was the Director of Engineering.
He was a member of the American Society of Chemical Engineers. Ernie loved to fish, read, run, ski, and was always striving to better educate himself. He will be remembered for his 'Devilish Grin".
Ernie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorie D. (Blanksby) Shorrock, of Mechanicsburg, PA; three daughters, Lesley Birmingham, of Marmora, NJ; Jill Shorrock, of Lawrenceville, NJ; and Amy Bills, of Mechanicsburg, PA; one son, Evan Shorrock, of Silver Springs, MD; two son-in-laws, Michael Bills and Steve Howe; one daughter-in-law, Holly Shorrock; twelve grandchildren, Tucker, Saylor, Teagen, Leo, Asher, and Indy Birmingham; Lilah, Piper and Tala Howe; Madison and Riley Bills; and Samuel Shorrock.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
All funeral services will be private and handled at the convenience of the family.
