Obituary

Eric Daniel Meyers, Sr., 62, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at his home.

Born on April 14, 1961, in Pensacola, FL, he was the son of Amos and Charlene (Myers) Meyers, of Oro Valley, AZ.

Eric graduated from East Pennsboro High School, Class of 1980. During his high school years, he was a talented athlete. He placed second in the state PIAA-class AA rankings for the 185lb division in wrestling. In addition to wrestling, he played baseball, football, and ran on the track team. He was awarded "Outstanding Male Athlete" for his skills on the football field. Following high school, he continued his education at Millersville University from 1980-1982. He briefly left college to join the US Army and served his country as a member of the Military Police while stationed in South Korea until 1985. Following his military service, he returned to Millersville University and completed his bachelor's degree in economics in 1987. Eric had over 28 years in the insurance industry, retiring from Gallagher-Bassett Insurance Company at the age of 60 in 2020. Eric was a member and board member of the West Shore Church of the Brethren, Enola, PA. He was a member of the VFW Post 6704 in Mechanicsburg, and a charter member of the Enola Sportsman's Club. Eric enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, hunting, bike riding, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Those who knew him well would say he was a good-humored, generous, and kind man, who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, and his presence is deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Eric is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sherry (Stapleton) Meyers, of Mechanicsburg, a son, Eric Daniel Meyers, Jr. and his wife Emily, of Bethel Park, PA, a daughter, Tiffany Mahoney and her husband Andy, of New Cumberland, PA, two brothers, David Meyers and his wife Susie, of Key West, FL, and Donovan Meyers and his wife Iris, of San Diego, CA, a sister, Victoria Smith, of Hummelstown, PA, his biological father, Peter Shepherd, of State College, PA, an uncle, Bill Myers, of Mechanicsburg, his mother in-law and father-in-law, Audrey and Samuel Stapleton, of Enola, PA, a sister in-law, Anita Anderson and her husband Eddy, of Hendersonville, TN, a brother in-law, Brent Stapleton, of Lewisberry, PA, and two nephews, Dolan Stapleton, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Justin Smith, of Harrisburg, PA.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Nancy (Myers) Dunkle.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA. A visitation with Eric's family will be held in the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
