Emil R. "Bob" Weiss, 92, of Mechanicsburg passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on July 21, 1924 in Middletown, PA, he was the son of the late Emil and Elizabeth Ann (Snyder) Weiss.
Bob was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He was an aircraft mechanic at the New Cumberland Army Depot, retiring in 1979. Bob was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, Hershey Wood Trotters Camp Club, Capital City Polka Dancers Assoc., Moose Lodge #410 in Middletown, and a Lifetime member of the Lower Allen Twp. VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Lucille (Rissinger) Weiss, of Mechanicsburg; a son, Robert Sprenkle, of Lemoyne; two daughters, Marsha Lower, of Mechanicsburg, and Sharon Oakman, of Camp Hill; a sister, Sylvia Glessner, of Harrisburg; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Weiss, of Mechanicsburg and a sister, Dorothy Creek, of Harrisburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday December 19, 2016 at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 500 Simpson Ferry Rd., Mechanicsburg, 17055 with Pastor Kevin E Hughes officiating. A viewing will be held in the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
