Elizabeth W. Winters, 91, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Born March 18, 1932, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Wagner) Wiegand . She received her bachelor's degree from Wittenburg University, Springfield, Ohio, where she met and later married the Rev. Matthew L. Winters (1954) and was the ultimate Pastor's wife. Rev. Winters served at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Buffalo, NY, from 1955-1960 and 1975-1996, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, from 1960-1975. The Winters retired to Mechanicsburg.

Elizabeth and Matt also supported son Matt's baseball career and daughter Debbie's therapeutic riding programs until his death in 2001. Following her husband's death, she remained active at Trinity where she served as Missions Chairperson, leader of Bible studies, and a bell ringer, among many other activities. "Ma Winters" was a loving and spiritual influence on all who knew her.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Winters of Mechanicsburg, and her son Matthew L. Winters, IV (Victoria) of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren Darby Shae Episcopo (Pete), El Paso, TX, Brenan Claire Phillips (Ryan), Raleigh, N.C., and Matthew L. Winters V (fiancé Salena Baker), Atlanta, GA; three sisters Barbara W. Pillote (Robert), Rockville, MD, Anna W. Kerr, Palm City, FL, and Doris Stegeman, Vienna, VA. In addition to her parents and her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother Martin Wiegand.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Private inurnment will be in the church columbarium. A reception will be held following the service.

The Winters Family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and care that surrounded Elizabeth every day. We are all truly blessed.
