Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) Chrencik, a longtime resident of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday, December 1st at the Bethany Village Retirement Center in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania. She was 90.
Betty's maiden name was Elizabeth Swidersky. She was born in Houtzdale Pennsylvania in 1923 and her parents were the late Frank Swidersky of Moran Pennsylvania and Blanche Keatley Swiderksy of Brisbin Pennsylvania.
Betty was a graduate of the Woodward Township High School in Clearfield County. She was also a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce and moved to Harrisburg in 1943 to work in an administrative position for the State of Pennsylvania.
Betty met her husband, the late George Chrencik, in Harrisburg prior to his military service in Europe during World War II. They married in 1946 and moved to Camp Hill where they raised their family of five boys. George worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for 30 years prior to his death in 1976.
Betty was a charter member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church and an active member of the local Republican Party. She also served as an elections poll official in Cumberland County and worked for the Camp Hill School System. Betty was an avid supporter of Camp Hill High School athletics where her children played numerous sports.
Betty was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in the educational, athletic and professional achievements of her five sons. She is survived by Dave Chrencik (and wife Jacqueline) of Pasadena California, Bob Chrencik (and wife Ellen) of Clarksville Maryland, Bill Chrencik (and wife Margaret) of Lancaster Pennsylvania, Mark Chrencik (and wife Teresa) of Westminster Maryland and Paul Chrencik (and wife Rebecca) of Camp Hill.
Betty was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by five brothers and sisters: Jack Swidersky of Tyrone Pennsylvania, Jean Sherkel of Houtzdale Pennsylvania, Nancy Hagyard of Philipsburg Pennsylvania, Lynn Swidersky of Trinity Texas, and Paul Swidersky of Ellicott City Maryland. Two brothers and a sister predeceased Betty: Norman Swidersky of Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania, Francis Swidersky of Parma Heights Ohio, and Doris Hagan of Houtzdale.
The funeral service will be held at the Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 South 22nd Street, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania at 11:00 a.m. on Monday December 9th. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow the funeral at the Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elizabeth Chrencik Fund in benefit of the Bethany Village Retirement Center, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055.
