Earl Stanton Moyer, M.D., 91, Physician in Internal Medicine, Camp Hill Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday August 4, 2015 at his home.
Born July 3, 1924 at Harrisburg Hospital, he was the son of the late Augusta Elizabeth Stanton Moyer and Mahlon Erle Moyer.
He graduated from Camp Hill High School and Franklin and Marshall College. He received his M.D. degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1948, and received training at Lankenau Hospital, Guthrie Clinic, Duke University Hospital, and Harrisburg Hospital.
He was in the Army Reserve Corp in World War II, and served during the Korean War as a Physician in the U.S. Navy at Quantico, Virginia and with the destroyer fleet.
He practiced Internal Medicine in downtown Harrisburg for 51 years. He was affiliated with Harrisburg Hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital and Health South. For many years he was the Medical Consultant for the Dauphin County Department of Welfare. He enjoyed working with the residents and staff for many years at the Dauphin County Home, now Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, Dauphin County Medical Society, Harrisburg Academy of Medicine, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Society of Internal Medicine, The American Legion, and Torch International.
In medical practice he showed particularly, compassion, communication ability, and a high standard of medical care.
He was a lifelong member of the Grace Methodist Church on State Street in Harrisburg.
He enjoyed many aspects of science, particularly natural history. Flower gardening was a hobby. He enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing and travel with his wife and friends. He especially enjoyed ball-room dancing with his wife, particularly the Mambo and the beautiful Waltzes. He also liked classical music, opera, and old-fashioned jazz.
Earl is survived by his devoted wife Pauline "Pat" (Schofield) Moyer. Cousins Joe Davis, and Eugene Moyer Smith, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday August 7, 2015 at Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, 1903 Market Street Camp Hill. Burial will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
